Boite a lunch Rana: Reviews & Ratings
Excellent biryani. Nice small patio. Very friendly owner.
Great place for Sri lankan Tamil food. I had their mixed veggie dish which comes with 3 curries, 3 small salad and a vadai (spicy donut). If you're lucky they may even have their spicy soya meat curry on the menu. When I went a few days ago, my dish came with payasum (sweet vermicelle pudding), unfortunately it does have dairy in it. But apart from that and a salad that had mayo, it was vegan friendly. Its a small restaurant, with 2 tables if I remember correctly, but I usually grab takeout. Friendly staff, great experience

Boite a lunch Rana, nestled on Victoria Ave in Montreal, offers a genuine taste of Sri Lankan Tamil cuisine that promises both authenticity and warmth. This small, cozy spot—with just a couple of tables—exudes a welcoming vibe, enhanced by a friendly owner who clearly cares about his craft. The charm of the place extends beyond its intimate setting to the thoughtfully prepared dishes that showcase vibrant spices and fresh ingredients.
Their biryani stands out as a highlight—richly aromatic and layered with perfectly cooked meat and rice that leaves a lasting impression. Equally compelling are the mixed veggie platters, which come with an enticing trio of curries, an assortment of crisp salads, and a spicy vadai, offering a well-balanced experience of textures and flavors. For those who appreciate plant-based options, some of their dishes are vegan friendly, with occasional sweet surprises such as payasum, though it contains dairy.
The menu also features specialties like kottu rotti, celebrated for its fresh ingredients and robust taste, and chicken fried rice that many patrons, including myself, find hard to resist. Though prices lean slightly higher than average, the quality and flavor more than justify the expense.
What truly elevates Boite a lunch Rana is its seamless blend of traditional Sri Lankan fare with the inviting atmosphere and attentive service, making every meal feel special. Whether dining in their modest patio during warmer days or grabbing takeout, the experience remains consistently memorable.
In short, Boite a lunch Rana is a gem for those seeking authentic Sri Lankan flavors delivered with passion and care in the heart of Montreal. It’s a culinary journey worth savoring.
